Volunteers from Guardian News and Media and BT
We have had a relationship with the Guardian since they moved into Kings Place 5 years ago. We hosted the Guardian’s biggest ever volunteer day this year, the theme was art and wellbeing. 50 volunteers transformed a neglected corner of Cally road at Bemerton Art Studios.
We built planters from railway sleepers and planted plants donated by the Chelsea Flower show. We door knocked the estate and invited residents to a free BBQ at the end of the day. Central Saint Martins College students laid on art activities for everyone to join in with and our resident potter Pauline let us make pots on her wheel.
Volunteers from British Telecom also visited Bemerton to do some work tidying up Perth Green. They had a great time and word spread that Bemerton was the place to come to, we have 2 more teams from BT coming in October!
